SUTHERLAND SPRINGS, Texas (AP) — A gunman dressed in black tactical-style gear and armed with an assault rifle opened fire inside a small South Texas church, killing 26 people in an attack that claimed tight-knit neighbors and multiple family members ranging in age from 5 to 72 years old.

LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) — A 19-year-old university student in West Texas was charged early Tuesday with capital murder of a peace officer in the fatal shooting of a police officer at the campus police station, where he was being questioned in a drug-related case, authorities said.

The bodies found close to railroad tracks near Thompson Road on Friday, October 6 have been identified as Ernesto and Maria Ibarra.

BOSTON (AP) — Former NFL star Aaron Hernandez hanged himself Wednesday in the prison cell where he was serving a life sentence for murder, hours before his ex-teammates visited the White House to celebrate their Super Bowl victory, authorities said.

Three year after the death of Maverick County Constable Jose Blanco, age 41, the case remains a mystery. 

Blanco lost his life after being assaulted in downtown Corpus Christi, Texas and to date the crime remains unsolved with limited clues as to who is responsible for his death.   

On February 21, 2017, a Maverick County Jury was selected to hear the murder case against Defendant Juan Enrique Rodriguez Ruiz for the murder of his wife Maria Pesina Molina Rodriguez.
