Una de las enmiendas que a causado mas polémica o controversia entre los votantes, ha sido Proposición B la cual el Mayor y los miembros del concilio votaron a favor, y es donde están pidiendo a los votantes que voten para que ellos

Mayor Ramsey English Cantu expressed his thoughts and concerns in reference to the recent accident involving Vanessa Velasquez, the young teen who was tragically struck by a 2017 Red Cherokee Jeep driven by Ana De La Garza on January 5, 2018 while attempting to cross Garrison St.  Velasquez continues in critical condition in a San Antonio hospital as a result of the accident.

Former Crystal City officials James Jonas III and Ricardo Lopez were in a Del Rio federal courtroom on Monday June 19, facing multiple corruption charges stemming from their arrests back in 2016.

The city of San Antonio is poised to usher in new leadership after a Saturday runoff election that saw incumbent mayor Ivy Taylor defeated by city council member Ron Nirenberg.

   Eagle Pass Mayor Ramsey E. Cantu recently established his legacy as the youngest and longest running Eagle Pass City Mayor by securing a win the election of May 6, 2017.

Eagle Pass City Mayor Ramsey E. Cantu was re-elected as mayor, and will continue to serve the community in the position for another four year term. 

 During the Saturday May 6, 2017 election, Mayor Cantu respectively secured 1,622 votes or 85 percent of the entire total votes cast during the city non-partisan election process. Cantu was being challenged by long time media communications personality Hector M. Mijares, who received 269 votes or 14 percent. 

The Eagle Pass City Mayoral and City Council Election early voting period ended on Tuesday, May 2, with a total of 1,368 votes cast.   

   Monday, April 24 was the first day of early voting for both the Maverick County $8.5 million bond election, and the City of Eagle Pass officials elections. 

   As of press time, the number of ballots submitted was 238.

   The separation of the election races centralized at two different locations could affect the race outcomes and participation.

    The average number of voters for city elections is about 20 percent of the total registered voters.  

  A review of the 2013 Mayoral election shows that 2,979, or only 20 percent of the qualified registered voters in the city limits, participated in the election process. Mayor Cantu easily won his re-election in 2013 with 2,102 votes. 

   The Maverick County Voter Registration list currently shows that approximately 15,000 of registered voters live within Eagle Pass City limits, making them eligible to vote in the mayoral race. The total amount of registered voters in the county stands at 30,000. 

    A large number of people are expected to vote in the county elections with some predicting up to 6,000 votes in this very important and heated local issue.  When considering the amount of signatures that the group of  concerned taxpayers were able to collect for the petition against the $8.5 million, and the the average 3,000 voters who partake in elections, voter turnout could be high.

   En cuanto a la prensa, el número de personas que habían emitido sus votos para ambas elecciones fue bajo, en comparación con las elecciones celebradas en noviembre.

   La separación de las elecciones centralizadas en dos lugares diferentes podría afectar los resultados de la carrera y la participación.

  El promedio de votantes para las elecciones municipales es de alrededor del 20 por ciento de los votantes registrados.

Ayer hasta la 1p.m. el numero de votantes fue en el condado 187, y en la ciudad 92.

The City of Eagle Pass will be holding the mayoral election along with two council member positions, beginning on Monday April 24 at the Multi-Purpose Center from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
