House destroyed in fire
The Eagle Pass Fire Department responded to a 911 call at approximately 11:26 p.m. on Monday that there was a structure fire on the 2700 block of East Main Street, next to the Skillets restaurant.
Fire Chief Manuel Mello said units were dispatched to the location at about 11:28 p.m. and arrived at the unoccupied single story, 3500 sq. ft., family dwelling at about 11:32 p.m.
“The first arriving officer determined that the house was too engulfed to make any entry into the house so they decided to make an exterior attack,” said Mello. “We used three command units, an ambulance, and three fire trucks to extinguish the fire.”
A fire engine was still present on Tuesday because there was still smoke and “a couple of hot spots” in the area.
Fire investigators were also on the scene because the fire was suspicious in nature.
