In an attempt to increase distribution rates by American Electric Power (AEP), Eagle Pass City Council voted against a resolution to amend cost recovery factors to increase said rates.

AEP, continued to work on several scattered outages across the Texas border region throughout Tuesday evening, including in Maverick County where up to 825 homes lost power on Monday, January 1, 2018.

Over 800 AEP light customers in Eagle Pass lost electricity on Monday, some lasting several hours, facing the frigid temperatures without any power.

The Eagle Pass Fire Department has determined the fire that completely destroyed a home with ties to Mexican Revolutionist and President Francisco I. Madero was due to an electrical failure caused by faulty wiring.
