The Maverick County Junior Livestock Association exhibition and sale came to a close this  past weekend with the naming of the Grand Champions and Reserve Champions on Friday and the auction / sale on Saturday January 27.

It is getting, “Texas Cold” out there, and the stray pet population at local pounds need warm hearts. Local animal advocacy group, Project COMPANION, is asking the community for new or gently used blankets or towels, dog and cat food to benefit shelter pets during the colder months. With the help of kind citizens, Project COMPANION raised 470 lbs. of pet food and over 130 blankets at last year’s drive. The haul was split between the County and City Pet Holding Facilities.

  The Eagle Pass City Council is expected to approve an amendment to the existing City Code of Ordinances in relation to animal protection, euthanasia, and other animal and pet related subjects at their next meeting.
