County Commissioners Court approves tax rate decrease for 2017-2018 fiscal year

The Maverick County Commissioners Court approved the lowering of the 2017-2018 Tax Rate by 3 cents per every $100 valuation going from $0.54239 to $0.51200 at their meeting held on Thursday September 21.
Early voting period for EPISD TRE shows low turnout

The Eagle Pass Independent School District Tax Ratification Election (TRE) had a slow start, with only 279 votes cast within the first three early voting days.
Election reports show that 124 votes were cast during the first day of the early voting period on Wednesday, May 10, and 117 votes cast on Thursday, May 11. On Friday at about 1:30 p.m., 38 more ballots had been submitted
EPISD tax rate early voting begins Wednesday
The EPISD approved Ad Valorem Tax Rate increase Tax Ratification Election will begin on Wednesday, May 10, and will run through May 23 at the Eagle Pass Multi -Purpose Center from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. During the EPISD early voting period voters will also be able to vote on extended voting day, Saturday, May 20.

The Eagle Pass Independent School District held a public hearing on the proposed 2.5 cent tax increase where they voted to move forward with a Tax Ratification Election, on Friday, April 7.

Concerned Maverick County tax payer Ethelvina Felan, who has been heavily involved in the investigation into the Maverick County tax rate calculation, has issued a letter to County Judge David Saucedo about the meeting in which the Tax Rate Roll Back Petition will be discussed in closed session.
