U.S. Border Patrol agents rescued a family of undocumented immigrants, one of whom passed away, and found 14 others who were lost in the cold.

“Crossing the border illegally poses multiple hazards,” said Del Rio Sector Chief Patrol Agent Felix Chavez. “Sadly another human life was lost yesterday while attempting to illegally enter the United States.”

Law enforcement agents and the Mexican Consulate’s Office in Eagle Pass were notified on Sunday, October 29, by US Border Patrol agents that human remains had been discovered in a desolate area within Comanche Ranch, about 22 miles from town.

Body found in river remains unclaimed

Mexican Consulate in Eagle Pass, Ismael Naveja Macias has declared that the recent case of a deceased person found and retrieved from the Rio Grande remains open, as nobody has claimed the identified male adult. 

 

The male individual was identified as Pablo Alonzo Rojas, a 48-year-old born in Ejutla, Oaxaca. Naveja Macias said the individual is known to have family in Oaxaca and in Miami, Florida.

Rojas’ body will be buried in the Maverick County Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with many other individuals that remain unclaimed and often unidentified. 

 

“It’s something that we continue working on and do so with the hope of turning over such remains to their loved ones,” said Naveja Macias.   

 

 

He continues to warn of the dangers that the Rio Grande poses, and urges anyone attempting to cross into the U.S through the river to rethink their actions, and the legal and life threatening consequences.

   El Consul Mexicano en Eagle Pass, Ismael Naveja Macias ha declarado que el reciente caso de una persona fallecida encontrada y recuperada del Río Grande permanece abierta, ya que nadie ha reclamado  a dicha persona

    El individuo masculino fue identificado como Pablo Alonzo Rojas, de 48 años de edad, nacido en Ejutla, Oaxaca. Naveja Macias dijo que el individuo es conocido por tener familia en Oaxaca y en Miami, Florida.

  El cuerpo de Rojas será enterrado en el cementerio del condado de Maverick, donde será sepultado con muchas otras personas que no son reclamadas y a menudo no identificadas.

   "Es algo en lo que seguimos trabajando y lo hacemos con la esperanza de entregar esos restos a sus seres queridos", dijo Naveja Macias.

   Él continúa advirtiendo de los peligros de el Río Grande, y hace un llamado a cualquier persona que trate de cruzar a los Estados Unidos a través del río para que lo piense, y las consecuencias legales y peligrosas para su vida.
