Lady Mavericks fall short in district playoffs

The Eagle Pass C. C. Winn High School Lady Mavericks Basketball Team lost to the Flour Bluff High School Lady Hornets with a score of 55 to 20 in the 5A Bi--District Championship Game for Region IV on Monday, February 12.
Winn Maverick All-District selections include unanimously named players

The CC Winn Mavericks were awarded several All-District selections including some unanimous choices such as Maverick Tight End Isaac Villarreal, who was given the highest honor for his continuous effort and seemingly limitless talent as a receiver who would score practically every time he touched the football.

The CC Winn Lady Mavs dropped their second game of the season to the Hondo Lady Owls on Wednesdy 45-34.
Mavericks Outlast Carrizo 69-44

The CC Winn Mavericks defeated the Carrizo Springs Wildcats 69-44 on Saturday. Coach JT Sanchez informed The News Gram that the effort was there for his team.
"It was a very good start for Maverick Boys Basketball. We had seen Carrizo Springs the last two Saturday’s in scrimmage play at Carrizo Springs and San Antonio Fox Tech respectively. Those scrimmages were closer than last night."

The Eagles are coming off a loss to United and the Mavericks bounced back from an equally heartbreaking loss to Southside with a win at Harlandale. Both teams can still aspire to district championships and hopefully, these two gentlemen will help to motivate their squads to turn in superior performances for us to have first-ever dual district champs in Eagle Pass.
