The Eagle Pass Eagles and the CC Winn Mavericks have made history in making the State Playoffs in unison for the first time in the history of Eagle Pass local sports.

The synopsis for 'Macfarland USA', a movie based on a true story about a rag-tag group of kids from a predominantly Mexican-American town who work their way from a serious underdog to winning the California State Cross Country Championship, says cross country is a sport whose "Team's score is calculated by compiling the first five members' overall finishing places. The lowest score wins. It is because of this cumulative effort, with each place having equal importance, that a state-level cross-country team can be forged."
