Suspect arrested in Piedras Negras stabbing attack
Staff reports
Rolando Flores Banda was arrested in Maverick County by the United States Marshals office Thursday afternoon after a criminal investigation had been ongoing in Piedras Negras, Coahuila. Law enforcement officials were looking for Banda as the sole suspect in the stabbing of an adult female this past week in the Las Villas del Carmen neighborhood of Piedra's Negras.
Banda was believed to have fled to the United States which prompted a collaborative effort from law enforcement agencies which yielded the arrest of the subject on February 1 in Eagle Pass near the Social Security offices in the Bibb St area.
The suspect will now be extradited to Mexico to face charges on the crime he committed.
The female injured was identified as Isabel Garza Plata, 48, from Piedras Negras and is currently still hospitalized due to her injuries.
