Car accident claims one near El Indio

Friday, July 29, at approximately 2:00 a.m., Maverick County Sheriff’s Deputies received a call in reference to a reckless driver on FM 221 near Rosita Valley.

“Our deputies went out there searching for the vehicle and approximately several minutes later we received another call in reference to an accident at Cinco Ranch near El Indio, Texas,” said Maverick County Chief Sheriff’s Deputy Robert De Leon.

Upon arrival, deputies found the vehicle involved in the accident, which matched the vehicle description about the reckless driver, empty.

“When they got there they looked at the vehicle and nobody was there,” said De Leon. “Several feet away from the vehicle was a male subject on the ground deceased.”

De Leon said the case is now under investigation by the Department of Public Safety, and that the subject’s name could not yet be released.

Another body was found on Cinco Ranch at approximately 10:00 am Thursday. The body of a male subject, possibly undocumented said De Leon, was discovered in the river by a ranch worker.
