Taxpayer sends open letter to commissioners court
The group of concerned taxpayers continue to fight for the validity of the tax rate rollback election petition filed last year.
Taxpayer Nora H. Maldonado issued an open letter to the Maverick County Commissioners’ Court, asking why the tax rate has not been ammended when even County Elections Administrator Roy Schmerber admitted the calculations for valid signatures were off.
County files counterclaim against Felan
The Maverick County Commissioners Court held a meeting on Monday, March 13, 2017 in which they took on the legal battle against Ethelvina Felan in regards to accusations, on her behalf, that the county intentionally invalidated a taxpayers’ petition for a rollback election on the county’s 2016 tax rate.

Ethelvina Felán, a member of the group of concerned tax payers fighting for a tax rate rollback petition has released a letter to County Judge Saucedo after Texas State Representative Alfonso “Poncho” Nevárez made a comment on how the taxpayers should focus on a solution to the problem instead of pushing forward with the petition.
