The Eagle Pass Chamber of Commerce held a community breakfast Wednesday, August 24, that provided information on upcoming events, many of which would raise money for notable causes.
Candles for Life was only one of the organizations collecting funds to help fight cancer.
“Cancer is a plague. It’s everywhere and all of us have been touched by someone who has cancer, had cancer, died of cancer or survived cancer,” said Advisory Board Member Mike Garcia. “Candles for Life is a tremendous program [that raises] about $30,000 a year. We give $400 to persons with active cancer every 12 months. This year instead of having the little walk-a-thon, we’re having a special event.”
