Local businessman Saul Fernandez made it official on Friday afternoon, throwing his name in the proverbial hat in the race for the 2013 Mayoral Election which will be held this May.
"Being from the private sector, we're in need of more support for growing our community from the industry standpoint," said the proprietor of Willow Creek Adult Day Care and member of the Middle Rio Grande Development Council, "I feel there is a need for more diversity in our elected officials to be able to understand the different age groups represented in our community and distinguishing economic status."
"Working with the elderly, I know the differences they have and the problems they face," he added, "As a businessman, I want to combine demographics and create better job opportunities for all of our citizens from all age groups to take advantage of everything happening around us."
He feels the need to bridge age gaps and economic levels as we have a very broad community and that there is much he can do to be more proactive in this respect.
Fernandez arrived at City Hall with his family, friends and followers who will help him make a run against incumbent Ramsey English-Cantú.
