In what has been the culmination of the vision of a man who has only been in Eagle Pass for twenty months, the Border Hope Juvenile Rehabilitation Center officially opened its doors to an impressive amount of local dignitaries, leaders, law enforcement personnel from the federal, state and local levels as well as representatives from faith-based organizations who all came to witness the beginning of a facility which will work to change the lives of a demographic which ultimately will be the future of our community, our state and this great nation, our youth.

County Attorney Rick Ramos was forthright and succinct in clarifying the situation stemming from a petition which was filed by Maverick County in the 293rd District Court last December 28th to begin the process to fill the position left vacant by County Commissioner of Precinct 2 Rudy Heredia, who is being held in a Federal Detention facility until April 16th of this year when he will effectively face a jury of his peers in a US Federal Court, as well as to challenge the seat of County Commissioner of Precinct 1 Eliaz Maldonado who faces Federal Charges, yet was given the opportunity to post bail until he goes to court on March 19th.

     HEB gave a check totaling $25,000.00 to the Eagle Pass Boys and Girls Club on Friday.

     The check was delivered by Victor Garcia and Andy Perales, directors of the local grocery store, and the check was given to Alfonso Mallen, Director of the Boys and Girls Club.
