A significant investment of $30,000.00 will be invested into the Lewis Estates Park which will be constructed by next year.
Ribbon cutting for the park occurred on Wednesday along with first graders from Mancha Elementary.
According to information from Jorge Sanchez, the swings were provided to the city through a Federal Grant with funds provided by the Dr. Pepper Bottling Company. The amount of said grant was $15,000.00.
The play area will have the same special lining which will break the falls of children playing there much like the one located at Ft. Duncan Park.
The park will have a walking track, a basketball court, a children's play area and a garden.
The Grand Opening and ribbon cutting was held with local dignitaries present.
Sanchez added that he hopes to have more parks around the city for residents to enjoy.
They are presently working on adding lighting to the baseball parks in the Fort Duncan area.
