U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers in Eagle Pass arrested a Houston woman Monday after finding more than half a million dollars worth of narcotics in her vehicle. Monday morning, CBP officers at Eagle Pass Bridge I inspected a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado pickup, driven by a 22-year-old Houston woman, as it arrived in the United States from Mexico. Following a preliminary inspection, officers referred the pickup for intensive examination, using a non-intrusive imaging system. Electronic scans of the vehicle revealed anomalies that led officers to discover four black tape-wrapped bundles. Three of the bundles contained cocaine, weighing a total of 14.124 pounds, while the fourth held 3.696 pounds of methamphetamine. The cocaine and methamphetamine were valued at $451,968 and $55,440, respectively.

At approximately 8:30 A.M., a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee was pulled over on a minor traffic violation. Upon secondary inspection, Sheriff's Deputies encountered the fact that within the vehicle, 452 Lbs. of marijuana were carefully wrapped in cellophane plastic. The suspect in this case was identified as Juan Carlos Chavarria Rivas, 19, who attempted to flee from officers, but after a short chase on foot, they were able to apprehend the suspect who was read his rights and detained. The marijuana along with the suspect were turned over to a Federal Agency for prosecution.

Police are searching for a subject who exposed himself to an Eagle Pass woman and her two daughters on Sunday afternoon at a local car wash on Main Street. According to the report, the woman was washing her car along with her 12 and 8 year-old daughters when a subject in an SUV pulled up beside them. According to the report, the subject was involved in a lewd act in his vehicle and when the woman took it upon herself to approach the man to give him a piece of her mind. The subject proceeded to start his vehicle and quickly escaped at a high rate of speed. The woman took down his license plates, but was unable to give much of a description of the vehicle he was driving. The public in general is asked to report any type of similar behavior immediately to authorities in order to keep our children safe from sexual predators and offenders.
