DIAMANTINA M. ELLIS
1933-2017
DIAMANTINA (MIRELES) ELLIS, age 83, peacefully entered into eternal rest on August, 19, 2017 at her home in Eagle Pass, TX, surrounded by family and loved ones. Tina was born to Tomas and Dolores S. Mireles in Eagle Pass, TX on August 31, 1933, and she continued to call this town she loved her home for the majority of her life.
In 1960, Diamantina Mireles married Albert C. Ellis, also of Eagle Pass, TX, and they raised their children in Eagle Pass and Los Fresnos, TX.
Tina devoted her years to her family members and was exceedingly proud of the accomplishments of her 2 sons and grandchildren. In Eagle Pass, she was an active member of Our Lady of Refuge Church, where she served on the altar society for many years. She also served as the Aggie Mother's Club President for South Texas when her eldest son attended Texas A&M. As a grandmother, she enjoyed hosting holidays at the ranch, watching her family gather to hunt, and encouraging and supporting her children & grandchildren in their schooling. She proudly wore the T-shirts of their colleges and took pride in contributing to their education. Her family loved Tina's tradition of creating personalized piggy banks and saving coins for the grandchildren, who excitedly awaited these gifts! She especially enjoyed bargain shopping, as she loved the challenge of finding a good discount! Tina also looked forward to occasional trips to Las Vegas with her husband during times when their health permitted. In times of sickness and trials, Tina clung to her strong Catholic faith and always relied upon the Lord to see her through.
Tina was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Tomas Mireles, Jr., Guadalupe A. Mireles, Raul Mireles, Rodolfo Mireles, Adolfo Mireles, and a sister Jesusita Mireles. She is survived by her husband Albert Ellis, 2 loving sons, Thomas (Dorothy) Ellis of Houston, TX and Richard (Carren) Ellis of Katy, TX, in addition to one sister, Severa Alicia Mireles of San Antonio. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren - Southern (Courtney) Ellis of Dallas, TX, Hunter Ellis of Houston, TX, Macy Ellis of Houston, TX, Anderson Ellis of Denver, CO and Miles Ellis of Malibu, CA.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the following nieces and caregivers who provided such outstanding and compassionate care for Mrs. Ellis in the last years of her life: Norma Angelica Saucedo Zavala, Maria Refugio Cabrera Rodelo, Marylou Betancourt, Myrna Olguin, and Sandra Perez.
