Press Release
Vehicle thieves are constantly looking for opportunities to take advantage of drivers. Historically, more vehicle thefts and burglaries occur in Texas during summer months, which is why the Eagle Pass Police Department’s Auto Theft Unit has declared July “Watch Your Car Month.”
Four people were left injured, and one is deceased after a rollover on FM 481 Tuesday evening.
Maverick County Deputies arrived to the scene and observed a tan Ford Expedition on fire and people assisting the injured occupants. EMS, Fire Department, DPS, Uvalde Fire Department and Air-Evac arrived to the location to assist.
The driver, 58-year-old Isidro C. Corpus, said he was traveling with six other family members southbound on FM 481 where the vehicle got a blown tire causing him to lose control of the vehicle, veer off the road and roll over several times. Several other occupants were ejected from the vehicle.
Isidro refused medical attention, as did 30-year-old Yanira Corpus. Sylvia Corpus, 54, along with family members ages 8, 6, and a 15 were airlifted to San Antonio for further medical treatment from injuries sustained in the rollover. Alyssa Marie Cahue was pronounced deceased at the scene. The family is from Uvalde, Texas.
