City officials discussed the project during their meeting held on Tuesday, August 6, 2019, in which they moved forward into hiring an organization to design and construct the sports facility.
Request for qualifications are to be taken on as the next step in this process. Eagle Pass Mayor and members of the City Council concurred that the facility would be extremely beneficial for our community.
The City has been looking at different options for the location of the proposed sports complex, which is to be constructed using funding made available from the issuance of Certificates Of Obligation (COB’s) in the amount of approximately $32,000,000; at a fixed interest rate of 3.6% for 20 years.
The City has designated an area that a developer is interested in donating for the future facility.
The Sports Complex would include all the amenities including areas for different sporting events at a cost of approximately $12,000,000.
