More than a year has passed since District Attorney Roberto Serna’s life was threatened due to his prosecutorial work in the Tri- County area.

Back on July 6, 2018, the Maverick County Courthouse was under strict security measures as District Attorney Roberto Serna and District Prosecutors were there to present the sentencing phase against an individual who pleaded guilty of Aggravated Assault against a Peace Officer in May 2018.

The courtroom was filled with tension as armed law enforcement officials stood guard as the proceedings took place.

The court proceedings went on and justice was served to the individual who appeared before the court to be sentenced.

After the entire ordeal, an investigation took place and remains in place.

As for D.A. Serna, he continues on a daily basis performing his duties in the Tri-County area to assure that justice is served to those who commit crimes against society.

Up to now, law enforcement officials and District Attorney Serna have not been able to give much detail about the threat.

D.A. Serna has prosecuted hundreds, if not thousands of criminal cases during his long career. During that time he has faced life-changing experiences; along with his personnel, victims, and even those being accused.

One of the most poignant moments in his career occurred back in the early 90’s when he was shot at while in his office in Carrizo Springs, Tx.

Luckily he was not hit, but he has continued hitting back - legally - since then.
