Law enforcement officials from three different counties were involved in a high speed chase after a vehicle was reported stolen in Maverick County.

Law enforcement officials spotted the vehicle on Del Rio Blvd. at approximately 12:15 pm and attempted to pull it over.

The vehicle's driver did not stop and proceeded to lead law enforcement officers on a chase headed towards Del Rio, TX. on U.S. N. Highway 277.

The vehicle then turned onto U.S. 131 headed towards Kinney County.

The Maverick County Sheriff's Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, and U.S. Border Patrol continued to pursue the vehicle into Kinney County.

Kinney County Sheriff Department officials were alerted of the incoming chase. Law enforcement officials deployed spike strips at some point to try to stop the vehicle.

The chase is reported to have continued and entered into Kinney County and into the outskirts of Uvalde, TX. U.S. Highway 90.

Maverick County Sheriff Tom Schmerber reported that the vehicle crashed into a tree where the driver, a passenger and 5 undocumented immigrants were arrested after they attempted to abandon the wrecked truck they were in.

The subjects will now face criminal charges including for human trafficking.
