Gallego was in EP to be briefed by CBP Supervisor Cynthia Rodriguez at International Bridge II. Rodriguez took him on a serious tour of their facilities and advised him that every day, her 200+ charges are on the front line of the war on illegal immigration, the perils of the international drug trade and against potential terrorists every day as their lives are constantly on the line in terms of having to carefully inspect each and every person crossing into the US.
According to Rodriguez, there are many needs in terms of safety measures that still need to be taken and she was happy to see the freshman congressman so interested in her facilities.
"There are a lot of needs and certainly a lot of things we can improve," concluded Gallego, "To improve the flow of traffic and to maintain the safety of our officers."
Congressman Gallego brought along all of his full-time staff on a ten-day tour of his district. See this Thursday's edition of The News Gram for an in depth look at his visit to Eagle Pass and the significance of the Democrat's historic ascension.
