Maverick County continues pushing forward with a security expansion project which would cover three of the four precincts in the community.

Precinct 4 Commissioner Roberto Ruiz has stated that a petition for a Sub-Sheriff Station is making progress with a majority of the corresponding officials - including County Judge David Saucedo and Sheriff Tom Schmerber - in full support of the proposal.

The expansion would include 4 patrol units assigned to the station, 2 additional units from 6 am to 6 pm, and a secretary assigned to administrative duties from 8 am to 5 pm.

The proposed sub-station would be located in the Loma Bonita sector.

Ruiz adds that additional surveillance support would be requested from the United States Border Patrol for emergencies.

The sub-station could be ready in approximately six months.

The sub-station would serve precincts 1,2, and 4.
