On Friday, June 28, 2019, he received a call from Ultimate Fighting Championship “UFC” officials calling him up to fight in an upcoming Pay-Per-View to be held on Saturday, July 6, 2019.
Finally, everything that he has spent years working for was becoming a reality.
That is until his manager approached the company he currently is contracted with to ask for a release and move up in the MMA fighting world.
Drako’s manager Brian Butler states that he reached out to King of the Cage management, the organization
Rodriguez currently fights under, telling them that they had been offered an opportunity of a lifetime to sign with the UFC and fight against Marlon Vera at UFC 239.
Butler states that King of the Cage President Terry Trebilcock was not receptive of what he was hearing.
Butler told Trebilcock that Drako had been called up by the biggest MMA fighting promotion in the world and was wanting to move up in his career. Butler says that Trebilcock told them that he was not letting Drako out of his contract.
There are other issues that must be addressed by all parties involved but sadly at this time, Drako has been stopped from furthering his MMA fighting career.
What can be said is that the young man has the heart and skill to go far in the career he has chosen. And he is sure to punch his way to another opportunity and will one day receive that call once again from UFC officials to go dance at the big show, hopefully.
At this time Drako is still signed to King of the Cage promotions, for at least another four fights.
