The mare was found at a home and exposed to the high temperatures and without water and food.
Representatives of the foundation filed an animal cruelty complaint with the Maverick County Sheriff's Department.
“We can’t even begin to understand the kind of people that would leave this horse exposed to all the elements this way. No shade, no water, and obviously no food. If this isn’t animal cruelty we don’t know what is,” wrote the
Buddy Foundation. “We have filed an animal cruelty report with the Maverick County Sheriff Office and we intend to follow through with this investigation.
With all the Texas laws that are in place to protect animals from this kind of abuse and neglect, we can’t ignore these cases and neither should our lawmakers.
This is so unacceptable and heartbreaking.” On Wednesday, June 25 the Buddy Foundation reported that the horse had been surrendered by the owner and was being adopted by a community member.
“This beautiful girl is well on her way to a happy life. All thanks to an amazing woman who has watched her suffer over the years and tried numerous times to get her the help she needed. Sadly, all her complaints fell on deaf ears as it’s usually the case. She finally convinced the owners to surrender her and has been caring for her at her home,” reported the Buddy Foundation.
The Foundation posted that the horse was going to be transported to a farm in Seguin, Tx where she will be nursed back to health and then be brought back to the new owners.
