IBC Bank-Eagle Pass Awards $4,000 in college scholarships to local students who ‘DO MORE’ for their community

EAGLE PASS, TEXASThis month, IBC Bank awarded $153,000 in scholarships to deserving high school seniors across Texas and Oklahoma in honor of Antonio R. Sanchez, Sr., founder of IBC Bank. Born into a humble family, Sanchez was a strong supporter of making higher education available to students interested in bettering their lives. 

IBC Bank-Eagle Pass was proud to award $4,000 in scholarships to deserving students from Eagle Pass, Uvalde and Del Rio area high schools. The needbased scholarships are awarded to high school seniors who have demonstrated a commitment to IBC’s “Do More” philosophy. 

“Community banks are only as successful as the communities they serve,” explained Hector J. Cerna, IBC Bank-Eagle Pass president and CEO. “College is the next step for these students in their journey to becoming successful, engaged future citizens.

These scholarships will help them reach their goals.” IBC Bank began the A.R. Sanchez, Sr. Memorial Scholarship Program more than two decades ago. Since then over $2 million in scholarships have been awarded to students acrossSouth Texas and Oklahoma.

“The recipients of our A.R. Sanchez, Sr. Memorial scholarships are chosen for their dedication to volunteerism and community service,” explains IBC Bank Chairman & CEO Dennis E. Nixon. “These civic-minded young people represent our future, and IBC Bank is honored to play a part in alleviating some of their financial burden in their pursuit of higher education.”

IBC Bank-Eagle Pass 2019 scholarship award recipients include: Angela Alonso Del Rio High School Adolfo Jimenez C.C. Win High Daniela Rodriguez Uvalde High School Dorely Estrada Samaniego Eagle Pass High School.
