Loop 480 in Maverick County will be officially designated as Loop JUNO in honor of 2 community members.

The designation of State Highway Loop 480 in Maverick County as Loop JUNO was presented by State Representative Poncho Nevarez during the final days of the 86th Texas Legislative Session and seeks to honor the lives of Julissa Nevarez - Mr. Nevarez’s departed sister and EPISD School Teacher - and Noe Tinajero, a well known pharmacist from the community who passed away in 2017. “HB 4211 was signed into law designating State Highway 480 as a memorial highway for two distinguished members of Eagle Pass: Noe Tinajero and Julissa Maria Nevarez. Noe Tinajero was an admired businessman, community leader, husband, father, and son.

Julissa Maria Nevarez taught at public schools in our Eagle Pass community and was beloved by her students and highly regarded as an outstanding teacher,” said Nevarez.

Both Nevarez and Tinajero passed away in 2017 and are greatly missed by their loved ones, friends and community residents who knew them as well.

Markers designating Loop 480 as Loop JUNO will be erected in the near future.
