The City of Eagle Pass continues to transition its Vector Control Department over to the Eagle Pass Police Department in order to provide a better service to the community and its residents.

Recently the Eagle Pass City Council approved the third and final reading of an ordinance that will transfer the Animal Control Department to the Police Department.

Eagle Pass Police Chief Albert Guajardo is working diligently in order to assure that the transition of the Vector Control Department to his department is effective and holds the public’s best interest.

“We need to understand that there are laws as citizens we must adhere to. In this case, it regards animal control laws and we must let the community know that it is their responsibility to assure that their pets are being kept within the guidelines that our ordinances provide. You will be held accountable for loosepets and anything that might occur such as attacks and bites,” said Guajardo.

Chief Guajardo is currently pushing forth a comprehensive plan with the Vector Control Department officers to justly enforce any animal ordinances within city limits.
