“I have just informed the Board that I intend to retire as of August 31, 2019, which is around the corner. I do want to thank the Board for all that they have done for me. I feel very fortunate to have worked with a Board as good as this Board. I respect all of you and your support. I will submit my formal letter this Friday. Again, I thank you for all that you have done for me,” stated Gonzalez.
EPISD Board President Jorge Barrera thanked Superintendent Gonzalez for his dedication and service to the Community.
“Thank you, Mr. Gonzalez, I know you will be missed. It’s kind of a surprise to everybody and I can see it in everyone’s faces still. You will be missed and thank you for all the years that you had with the district, not just as the Superintendent but the district as a whole,” said Barrera.
Board Trustee Hector Alvarez addressed Mr. Gonzalez’s announcement. “This District has grown so much under your leadership. You always say that you have a good Board but you are the one that fights for the district. We have been blessed to have lived it and having worked alongside you. Definitely, this district is going to miss you.
