The accusation against Mr. Sanchez was reported approximately two weeks ago alleging stealing from several people through deceptive practices.
A group of residents went to the Eagle Pass Police Department and formally accused the dance/cheer instructor of theft. The Eagle Pass Police Department issues out a report on the alleged crime. “On May 1, 2019, 40-year-old Abel Sanchez was arrested on a warrant obtained by the Eagle Pass Police Department. The arrest is from an investigation initiated in April 2019. Five separate complainants reported fees were paid to Sanchez to attend dance competitions and for his services as a dance instructor. The investigation revealed the fees paid by the complainants were not utilized for their intended purposes after competitions were canceled and funds were not refunded. Abel Sanchez was formally charged before a magistrate with theft of service of over $2,500 but less than $30,000 a jail felony. Sanchez was remanded to the Tom Bowles Detention Center in lieu of a $2,500 Bond and the case will be referred to the District Attorney's office for further legal action.”
