Local beauties crowned at 2013 MCJLS

The 2013 MCJLS Beauty Pageant was held on Sunday and local girls who aspired to the crowns participated in a series of contests at the Maverick County Showbarn before an impressive crowd of onlookers which kicked off the festivities of the livestock show which runs through January 26th.

Young girls participated enthusiastically and paraded in different costumes and western wear.

The winners in the different categories were as follows:

In the 15-19 year-old category, the 2013 MCJLS Queen will be La'Kira Flores.  Other awards were given in this category such as Miss Photogenic which was given to Joanna Sierra and Miss Amity was awarded to Julissa Jimenez.

In the 11-14 year-old category, Miss Teen MCJLS Queen was won by Dariela Etheredge and in the 7-10 year-old category, the Jr Miss MCJLS went to Christina Machell Williams.

The families of these girls were there to support the young ladies.

The panel of judges were headed by Claudia Nano, Celina Montemayor, Alyssa Sanchez, Lulu Schmerber, Gary Hobbs and Napo Zamarripa.

The Honorable Ramsey English-Cantú was also present at the event and assisted in the coronation of the queens.

 

The next event at the Livestock Show will be on January 22nd at 7:00 A.M. which will be the Cowboy Breakfast where local dignitaries will enjoy western style breakfast in support of the show participants, the FFA and the 4H Club.
