April 2, 2019. Eagle Pass Mayor Ramsey E. Cantu thanked Officer Hile for his service and dedication to keep the peace in our community. “I can’t believe he is retiring.

“He served his Department and community very well. Travis is the finest example of what a Texas Peace Officer should be,” said Chief Guajardo.
Officer Hile couldn’t contain the tears of emotion as he addressed those in attendance. “I want to thank each and everyone one of you through everything including my illnesses. 19 years ago, I was on my way to Methodist Hospital to have brain surgery for a tumor and I open my front door and I see a group of officers waiting to escort me out of town and wishing me the best. When I returned back they were there waiting for me at the city limits, ready to escort me back into town. For that, I am forever grateful to the Police Department. I love each and everyone of you,” said Officer Hile.
Officer Hile then radioed in his last sign off call as a Peace Officer for the Eagle Pass Police Department. “On behalf of the Eagle Pass Police Department we wish you farewell and good luck on your retirement,” answered
