Reports of a major motor vehicle accident were heard on local police radio scanners yesterday,

Monday March 25th at approximately 11:40 a.m. on S. Veterans Blvd. First to arrive at the scene, almost immediately, were local police officers, who quickly realized the magnitude of the accident and requested EP Fire Department send more ambulance support to their location. EPFD arrived with the life saving equipment, as the accident - between a Dodge Dart and a Black Suburban - left at least one of the individuals trapped in their vehicles after the wreckage. The impact of the shock was so strong, that the Suburban fell into the ditch between the Loop and the food stamp office. When the reporter arrived, a woman - who apparently was one of the drivers - was lying on the grass. The blow was so strong that the front tire of the driver was severed from it’s axis. EMS technicians triaged the patients and quickly transported them to the Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center emergency room for treatment. A man remained inside the Dodge Dart, and was cautiously removed by the paramedics. The driver was then taken to the emergency room. The two individuals who were inside the Dodge Durango were also taken in another ambulance. So far it is unknown how the accident occurred. The News Gram was informed, unofficially, that the Suburban and the Dodge Durango were traveling southbound on the way to El Indio Hwy and supposedly the Dodge Dart was headed northbound toward Main Street. It is being investigated as to who was the cause of the accident. In total, 5 people were involved in the accident. The police department had to work to stop the traffic and divert it to other streets, taking into account that the Loop had a lot of traffic due to the time of day the accident occurred.

From the information that was drawn on the radio/scanner, Air Evac was called in to transport one of the accident victims to a San Antonio Texas hospital, but were not able to due to weather conditions.
