Official records for the Eagle Pass Municipal Court show that during the month of July the court adjudicated 85 speeding violations. This is a decrease if compared to the month of June which had 103 speeding violations brought to the court system.
The month of July saw averages of 3 speeding violations being caught by the Eagle Pass Police Department per day.
This is a serious matter due to the issues that speeding may bring which include greater risks for motor vehicle accidents which is one of the biggest problems we have in the community.
On average, Eagle Pass Police Department responds to 4 motor vehicle accident calls per day.
The majority of those accidents involve speeding.
Eagle Pass monthly reports show that there were 138 motor vehicle accidents from July 25 to August 29.
There were 17 hit and run accidents during the same time period.
This is another problem that continues to be seen more in our community.
Law enforcement officials warn anyone who causes an accident that if they decide to leave the scene of the accident they will face serious criminal charges for doing so.
