At approximately 4:46 pm an emergency call came into the Eagle Pass Fire Department(EPFD) reporting a two-vehicle accident in an area in close proximity of the Loop 480 overpass by the EPISD Student Activity Center.
EPFD, Maverick County Sheriff Department and Texas Department of Public Safety (TxDPS) responded to the area.
Upon arrival at the scene, EPFD paramedics found a 2004 Red Chevrolet Pickup and a 2017 Black Jeep which had been involved in a head-on collision.
Paramedics and law enforcement agents made contact with two individuals who were involved in the accident.
Medical treatment was then initiated on the two drivers and they were then transported to the Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center Emergency Room for further evaluation and treatment.
Law enforcement officials began to investigate the accident.
The area was closed down for more than an hour while officials cleared the debris from the roadway and conducted an inquiry as to what occurred that led to the head-on collision.
This is the second motor vehicle accident that occurs in the area in less than 48 hours.
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is currently working in the area.
The two individuals taken to the hospital have been identified as 71 -year-old Jose Angel Ibarra the driver of the truck and Magaly Martinez an occupant in a jeep.
