The Eagle Pass City Council voted in favor of requesting that city administration begin the process needed to establish the City’s interest in going after Public, Private Partnership Projects(P3).

During the city council meeting held on Monday, August, 20 the council discussed the issue in executive session.

Once back in open session, the city council instructed administration to move forward with publications and preparations for the proper readings of an ordinance establishing such actions.

Public, Private Partnerships or (P3’s) allow for public and private entities to join their resources to create a project to sprout economic development as long as its defined as a qualified project.

In December 2017, the Eagle Pass City Council heard a presentation regarding Private Partnership Projects(P3) by Damian Guevara, Chief Operating Officer of Avery Resource Consulting, LLC and attorney David Lee Flores on a possible water park project for Eagle Pass to be developed under 380 (Economic Development) agreements.

It’s believed that the city administration is looking at the P3’s projects not for a water park as presented back in 2017 but a sports complex with multiple baseball, softball, soccer, football and other recreational fields. The proposed area for such project would be in the Fort Duncan Park area.

There are certain projects that are deemed fit as a qualifying project including recreational facilities.
