Coach Robert De La Garza informed The News Gram that his players are on the verge of achieving greatness at the Babe Ruth13 Year-Old World Series in Mountain Home, Arkansas.
“We beat a good team from the Middle Atlantic behind a strong pitching performance from Luis Kancheff,” said the coach, who along with assistants David Lopez and Morris Libson are preparing for a revenge match versus Greenville, North Carolina. Much like our World Series here in Eagle Pass, Mountain Home, Arkansas made bracket play and played Pacific Northwest on Tuesday. Eagle Pass faced the Middle Atlantic Champs and came away with an 11-3 victory sending them into the semi-finals to square-off with the Southeast Regional Champion who they lost to in Pool Play 4-2. On Monday Eagle Pass defeated Pacific Northwest 13-2 with three runs in the first, two in the second, one in the third, three in the fourth and four in the seventh. Alan Vielma was 2 for 5 with two runs scored and two RBI’s and Robert De la Garza was 4 for 4 with two runs scored. Should Eagle Pass prevail, they will take on the winner of Pacific Southwest and New England in the 2018 13 Year-Old Babe Ruth League Championship.
