New Officers Introduced at Badge Pinning Ceremony

   Five newly appointed officers have entered the ranks of the Eagle Pass Police Department and were recognized at a Badge Pinning Ceremony held Thursday.

  EPPD Communications Specialist Humberto Garza, Jr. emceed the event welcoming all attendees and introduced The Honorable Ramsey English-Cantu, Mayor of the City of Eagle Pass as well as EPPD Police Chief Albert Guajardo.

   Mayor Cantu expressed his gratitude to all peace officers for diligently putting forth their best efforts to keep our city safe and personally thanked the incoming officers for making the decision to dedicate their lives to public service.

   “We’re grateful for your commitment to our community,” said the mayor.   Chief Guajardo joined the mayor in his gratitude and addressed the family members as such, “I thank you so much for allowing them (the newly appointed officers) to pursue their dreams and careers.”

   The man in charge of the police force then proceeded to present Officers Aaron Gonzalez, Jose Valdez, Cesar Perez, Alejandro Esquivel and Daniel Platte.

   Another highlight of the event was the naming of Marcos Maldonado who was given the Dispatcher of the Year Award.

   “Communications dispatchers are basically our eyes and ears,” said the chief, “We wouldn’t be able to do what we do without them.”

   Guajardo also presented newly appointed criminal Investigations Division Detective, Corporal Guadalupe Roberto Escobar.

   The police chief also took the opportunity to introduce four other officers who are undergoing the hiring process, a group which includes three female officers.
