The Eagle Pass Youth City Council presented the City Administration an idea to put together an awareness campaign specifically called Keep Eagle Pass Beautiful during the council meeting held on Tuesday May 1st.

During the monthly activity reports portion of the meeting, youth Mayor Nadiyah E. Ledesma asked if there was any way that such a campaign could be put together to bring awareness on the beautification of our community. “Is there a way that we can create a campaign for people to be more aware of the importance of keeping our city parks and community at large much cleaner?” asked Ledesma.

City Manager Ivan Morua acknowledged the youth council on the great idea and explained an initiative that is being sought at this time involving the schools.

"Right now Mr. Juan Cuellar of Parks and Recreation is working on a campaign to get some schools to adopt a park,” said Morua.

Morua explained how the program would work. “You would have schools adopt a park in close proximity to them and they would help by having the students let the City know if there are any need for improvements.

Ledesma asked if the City was willing to start a Keep Eagle Pass Beautiful Campaign.

Mayor Ramsey E. Cantu stated that he believed that was a great start and thanked the youngsters for having such concern and foresight to think about the community and betterment for all.
