EPISD honors C.C. Winn Soccer

The Eagle Pass Independent School District and its Board of Trustees congratulated and honored the C.C. Winn High School Boys’ Soccer team who became District 29-5A and Bi- District Champions this year.

The EPISD Board of Trustees held a meeting on Tuesday, April 10 in which they presented the team and coaches with a recognition for their accomplishments. The C.C. Winn Soccer Team had a tremendous season and made EPISD history by being the first soccer team to ever win a district title. EPISD Board of Trustee President Lupita Fuentes congratulated the entire soccer crew for their efforts and for being good stewards of the community.

 

 

Kirchner Hero, Nathan Sanchez recognized by EPISD

The Eagle Pass Independent School District Board of Trustees held a meeting on Tuesday April 10 in which they honored Kirchner elementary first grader, Nathan Sanchez. Nathan, who is only 7 years old has displayed great leadership qualities and is now considered a Kirchner Hero thanks to his quick thinking and actions in rendering aid to an adult in the time of emergency.
Nathan was also honored by the Eagle Pass Fire Department and received a pin symbolizing him as a life saving award recipient and a member of the department.
Nathan displayed great poise and heroism when he helped save his grandmother.
Nathan called 911 when she suffered an accident at their home in the Quemado valley area.
Nathan then helped guide emergency personnel to where they were and assisted in saving his grandmother.

 

School board recognizes Ray Darr Mavericks Basketball

The Eagle Pass Independent School District and Board of Trustees recognized Ray Darr Elementary at their meeting held on Tuesday April 10, 2018.
 Board President Lupita Fuentes congratulated the Ray Darr students, parents and especifically the Division III Lady Mavericks Basketball Team for having a great basketball season.
 The school team ended their basketball campaign with a 7 win and 2 loss record making it into the play-offs where they went on to place second in their division.

 

 

School board recognizes Winn scholars

The Eagle Pass Independent School District Board of Trustees held a meeting on April 10, 2018 in which they recognized various students and organizations within the EPISD.
Among those students recognized was C.C. Winn Senior Sasha Corral for receiving the Minnie Stevens Piper Scholarship. Four years scholarships are awarded to academically promising and superior high school seniors residing in certain geographical areas of Texas who will need financial aid to attend the college or university of their choice in the state of Texas.
While not a full scholarship, the intent is to assist the student with education expenses. Students selected who are named Piper scholars must maintain a B average throughout their undergraduate college career to remain in the program.
The EPISD Board of Trustees also recognized C.C. Winn High School for having the 4th consecutive year that their students were named District 29-5A UIL Academic Champions. The CC Winn Mavericks are also pleased to announce that they will have 32 students represent them at Regionals.
