Mayor Ramsey E. Cantu stated that the demolition would be on the stadium’s main bleachers. “They’re in bad disrepair. We’re looking into replacing them in order to be in compliance with the tournaments such as the up-coming world series,” stated Cantu.
The replacing of the seats will cost approximately $15,925 including a press area and concession stand for a total of $80,000.
RAFSA Construction was chosen for the demolition portion of the project by the city council during their meeting held on Tuesday, March 6.
The World Series event will take place from August 9 through August 16 with 10 teams from Arkansas, the Pacific Northwest, New England, Midwest Plains, Pacific Southwest, Southwest, and the Middle Atlantic area competing in the series, bringing with them well over 1000 visitors to the community.
