“It’s of no surprise to everyone that for the past month we have been having a long line everyday starting at 8 a.m.,” said Villarreal.
Villarreal explained to the court some of the issues that add to the problem including more vehicle registrations being issued and other factors that are beyond her department’s control.
“The month of March is very busy . Primarily because a lot of people are getting there income taxes and that’s when they take advantage and pay their property taxes, purchase vehicles and transfer titles which add to the long lines we’re experiencing,” added Villarreal.
Villerreal advises the community to be mindful of certain time periods that are placed by the State in the renovation of your vehicle’s license plates which could help you and other visitors at the Tax and License Plate Renewal office.
Maverick County Judge David Saucedo and Villarreal discussed the issue and what can be done to expedite the patrons in a more efficient manner.
One thing that is being considered is a satellite office and hiring of more employees.
Villarreal does ask community members to have patience but also mindful of the time gap that the State gives you to get your license plates which is approximately up to 2 months.
