Among the major topics discussed during the meeting was a collaborative effort to boost security along the Texas/ Mexico border.
“We believe that having lines of open communication with our counterparts in Mexico is crucial to our objective of safe guarding our community,” said Schmerber.
Another important issue on the table is a continued unified objective on both sides of the Rio Grande to cooperate with one another in investigations, crime fighting, sharing of information on missing persons
and fugitive arrests.
Those in attendance during the conference included sheriffs from neighboring counties such as Zavala, Dimmit, Val Verde, Falfurias, Bexar and Laredo.
