During the event the MCJLS honored Travis Kelly for his work and dedication to the MCJLS. Kelly co-founded and was president of the MCJLS for many years. The Maverick County Junior Livestock Show and Sale was dedicated in his name.
The Grand Champion steer selection was exhibited by Olga J. Ramos and eventually purchased by the Nevarez Law group during the auction for $12,500. Juan De Dios Negrete’s Steer was selected Reserve Champion.
“We feel honored to be able to participate and give back in some way to our youth,” stated Poncho Nevarez.
Antonio De La Garza, III Grand Champion Hog was purchased by a conglomerate for $6,000. Isabella De La Garza’s hog was selected Reserve Champion and was purchases by Ancira Ford Eagle Pass.
Gerardo Molina’s lamb was selected as the Grand Champion and sold for $5,500 to Neutze's Minit Marts. Arturo Molina’s lamb was named Reserve Champion.
Daniela Molina’s goat was selected as the Grand Champion and sold to Morris and Dora Libson for $7,000.Anahi Molina’s goat was selected Reserve Champion.
The Grand Champion’s and Reserve Champion’s in their category and over 220 exhibited animals were sold during the auction event on Saturday.
Ancira Ford Mercury of Eagle Pass General Manager Rodney Winn was glad to be able to participate in the event and auction. “ I’m glad that we can help our community’s children in this manner. I myself participated in exhibiting when I was young. It helps you in so many ways including developing responsibility ,increased self esteem, leadership and life skills.”
The MCJLS Association reported that $400,000 in revenues was generated from the auction sale, surpassing last year’s total.

El gerente general de Ancira Ford Mercury of Eagle Pass, Rodney Winn, se alegró de poder participar en el evento y la subasta.
