County Attorneys Rolando Menchaca and Alberto Ramon, Tax Assessor and Collector Esteban Luna and County Treasurer Manuel Reyes. The politics was as it should be even today, heated
and challenging. Not everyone agreed with everyone else, but we all had one concern in common and that was that the finances of Maverick County should be sound and that every expenditure in all
county departments were subjected to complete audits as required of all Counties by State law.
That is not the case today. Maverick County is lead by County Judge David R. Saucedo who has avoided and
thwarted the efforts of concerned citizens who have seen Maverick County fall into serious debt and its reputation as a fiscally sound County brought into serious question. We don't know why and how
Maverick County fell into the fiscal nightmare it is in and the reason we don't know is because County Judge David R. Saucedo is preventing a sound audit of county finances to take place. He claims he has already fixed the problems, but that is his selfserving assessment not the assessment of a reputable audit of county expenditures.
Without a complete audit we cannot make adequate plans for the future of Maverick County. We cannot help attract new businesses and jobs as well as secure state and federal funds to build-up Maverick County. The Saucedo Administration has been the subject of FBI investigation and many, too many, county officers are serving federal sentences for their wrongdoings under the supervision of David R. Saucedo. We have even wondered if he too was going to be indicted and convicted. That shoe hasn't fallen, not yet.
We, you and I, all of the voters and property owners of Maverick County, don't know why we owe what we owe in our own County Government. The money trail must be identified and mistakes and outright corruption must be stopped at all cost. I don't mind the accusations against me and those good people who support my campaign have experienced in the social media. When you don't have a platform and experience to solve problems like those Maverick County is undergoing, candidates resort to insults and mud-slinging. I have decided to take the high road and be positive, not insulting nor lying to the people.
I believe I can do a better job for Maverick County because I have experience in dealing with budgets and fiscal policy. The laws we have that govern county finances are there for a purpose—to prevent the problems that the David Saucedo Administration has let grow in county government. If you care for a better and progressive county government free of scandal and dubious policies, vote for my election as your next County Judge. I pledge to work for all; I pledge to protect, not use county employees for my own political advantage, I pledge to be present and arrive on time at County Court sessions, and most of all, I pledge to have annual audits and report to the People of Maverick County how their tax dollars and state and federal monies are spent and accounted in a transparent manner and not with the goal of preventing the People from knowing what their government officials are doing or not doing for the progress of Maverick County. Together we can return trust and respect to the Office of County Judge of Maverick County, Texas!!!!
I RESPECTFULLY ASK FOR YOUR VOTE. EARLY VOTING STARTS FEBRUARY 20TH AND ELECTION DAY IS MARCH 6, 2018. THANK YOU; AND LET'S RETURN PRIDE TO COUNTY GOVERNMENT. THE PEOPLE DESERVE IT!!!
