The Nevarez Law Group filed a lawsuit on behalf of Isabel Velasquez Perez and her daughter Vanessa Velasquez, a minor, in the 293rd Judicial District Court against Anna Karina De La Garza who has been served a citation of law suit and now has up to 4 weeks to file an answer.

The lawsuit against De La Garza includes a formal complaint as well as a Temporary Restraining Orders(TRO) and injunctions against De La Garza , McDonalds, Burger King Corporation, Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center, Shell Oil Company and the Consulate General Of Mexico.
The lawsuit requests the confiscation of the vehicle involved in the accident a 2017 Red Jeep Cherokee as physical evidence in this case and may contain important evidence on the cause of injuries to Velasquez.
The restraining order asks for the vehicle to be preserved (Confiscated) for inspections and investigations to further analyze  the findings for the case.
The Nevarez Law Group also has requested for all camera video surveillance footage from the above mentioned businesses to be properly secured and not erased/destroyed or altered before an inspection and investigation of the footage has been conducted.
Video footage of this incident is to be sent to a professional video enhancement laboratory to get a clearer picture and any further evidence of the occurrence including a review of any other vehicles that were involved can be identified.
During a press conference held by the Eagle Pass Police Department, Chief Albert Guajardo stated that possibly two other vehicles had ran over Velasquez’s body as she lay on the floor and that they had not stopped. The two vehicles mentioned by Guajardo if found to be involved in the incident would be facing felony charges for not stopping to render aid. If the young lady succumbs to her injuries those parties that left the scene if determined to be involved could face vehicular manslaughter charges.
