This past few weeks if you pass by the Tax office building you can easily see a long line stretch out the front door of people in line seeking to pay property taxes and renew license plates for their vehicles.
Villareal comments that the lines begin to increase around this time because of the 7 percent surcharge that is added on during the month of February.
“Many people want to make sure that they take care of their bill before that time,” said Villareal.
Villareal does want to remind the community that other forms of payment are available that will help alleviate these long lines including online payments, check deposit or money order which can be sent via the U.S. post office.
Villarreal does ask community members to have patience but also be mindful of the time frame that the State gives you to get your license plates which is approximately up to 2 months. “Often times we have too many people waiting until the last minute to get their plates and that creates a rush and long lines. When you add the individuals that are paying their taxes especially around this time and it does become problematic.”
