School District as a history teacher before leaving the district to solely focus on progressing the county.

“Seven years ago, I made a commitment to the citizens of Maverick County. And while we knew then that the task would not be easy and the challenges faced would be difficult, our ideals have not wavered-we continue to fight for you. It would be wrong to turn a blind eye and not recognize the difficult periods Maverick County has had to endure. While others chose to avoid the problems that plagued the county, we didn’t quit. We learned from our situation, we rebuilt, and we didn’t make any promises. We let our actions speak for themselves.
Today, I can say we’ve drastically reduced county debt, from approximately 70 million dollars at the beginning of my tenure to 24 million. Our audits have not shown major discrepancies and have been submitted in a timely manner for several years now. Federal and state agencies have taken note of the work being done in Maverick County, and as a result, we have recently qualified for three major federally-funded grant projects in the amount of 1.3 million dollars. In the past fiscal year, our Sheriff’s Office has qualified for nearly 500,000 in funding to better equip our first responders who keep you safe.
Know that we’re here to give our residents the best services possible and to continue working for all of you, regardless if it is the 80 percent that support our efforts or the 20 percent that don’t.
I take pride in Maverick County and what we’ve done together to move it forward. From our days as County Commissioner to today, we’ve always had a plan, and behind it, the capacity and energy to see it through. Our vision of what Maverick County is capable of being, a thriving entity that puts the needs of the people first, is coming to fruition. We’re not done.
I remain committed to you and I thank you for the support you’ve shown over the past seven years. I humbly ask for your vote and support once again in the March 6, 2018 Democratic Primary.
