The forum has been in the works for several weeks and Eagle Pass BEDC/MRGDC Staff have been working with Congressman Will Hurd’s Office to schedule his participation as the lead presenter for the forum. Leticia Flores of the Office of the Governor and Enriqueta Caballero of the Office of the Secretary of State will also present during the forum. AEP, Eagle Pass Chamber of Commerce, Falcon Bank, Ft. Duncan Regional Medical Center, IBC Bank, and Union Pacific have teamed up to support the BEDC/MRGDC to make this forum possible.
“Eagle Pass needs to be included in the NAFTA discussion and trade and commerce relations, especially since Eagle Pass is one of the leading and fastest growing ports of entry in the U.S./Mexico Border,” says Eagle Pass BEDC Chairman Morris Libson.
The BEDC Regional Economic Development Forum will include important discussions on NAFTA 2.0, U.S./Mexico Border Relations, U.S. Congressional support for economic growth, Federal and State resources to support local and regional economic development, tying transportation & infrastructure to economic development, and Homeland Security.
“Eagle Pass is pleased to welcome Congressman Will Hurd and our State Officials Ms. Flores and Ms. Caballero to share key information about State and Federal resources to support the development of our local and regional economy,” says Mayor Ramsey English-Cantu. “The City Council and I are committed to seeking all available resources for the betterment of our community,” adds Mayor English-Cantu.
